My first exposure to Frank Bettger's materials was decades ago when I saw the book 'How I Raised Myself from Failure to Success in Selling' in a collection of half a dozen books sitting on the credenza in my new employer's office. I was intrigued by the title and thought, if this man who was a leader his field thought enough of it to have it displayed it must be good.

I was intrigued by the title and thought, if this man who was a leader his field thought enough of it to have it displayed it must be good.
That afternoon I bought the book and it was life changing for me in my sales career. During the next twelve years, following Bettger's tips, I set numerous sales records in that company both as a field salesman and a sales manager. Like every other salesman I had often found myself in a slump and wouldn't know what to do.
It seemed that everything I would try would only make bad matters worse. What I didn't realize was that I was missing an essential factor and that factor was in my head.
Reading and following the principles outlined in 'How I Raised Myself from Failure to Success in Selling' was just that I needed anytime I began to feel a bit discouraged with my performance.

As a sales manager I encouraged salesmen to read and follow Bettger's principles. The ones who did were the one who achieved the most in their sales careers. It is a very entertaining as well as informative book, so I never felt that asking them to read it was asking them to do something that was unpleasant.
